I would love to know how everyone is mating the parts together in Solidworks.
I am using 2004 version, so I imported the STEP parts and saved them as solidworks parts. But when trying to put a sevro in a bracket for eg, I really don’t know how to go about it. If I mate the mounting holes, it becomes overdefined when I do more than one.
Is there a certain way to mate two parts that don’t match exactly?
How have others put the servo into the bracket, and other conections?
Is there an alignment mode in SolidWorks? You should just have to align two holes and mate the surfaces the holes are on to get a perfect connection between parts. At least that is how it works in Alibre Design. I just align two opposite holes and mate the surfaces and that is all I need to do.
I don’t know about SolidWorks, but with Alibre Design I just align (not mate) two holes, then mate the surfaces to connect to parts. Aligns and Mates are not the same. There should be two or more aligns (holes) and just a single mate (the two surfaces) if it works the same as with Alibre Design.
