This is one of the tracked platform prototypes I started awhile back. I got some time to work on her the last few days. This will also be the Small Tracked Development platform. By small I mean 25" long, 24" wide, 6" wide track, 150lbs, and tops out at 65km/h. It’s about 190 lbs with the turret.
This is just a rough prototype of the finished product to fine tune a few things. There are panels and other details missing still.
I mounted my old prototype Paintball turret on it for testing. Then loaded a Tippmann A-5 Marker with M-16 kit, Fitco 14X28 Digital Video Scope, and laser sight. It’s pretty accurate for an old design of turret and the tracked chassis is impressively strong. I can stand on it and drive around but it struggles uphill. Without me on it, it flies at high speeds and has loads of track spinning torque. I love this little thing. LOL
It’s powered by 2 X NPC-1200 motors on custom reductions and uses a 320 Amp AmpFlow Dual channel controller.
I’m in the middle of finishing the Large tracked platform right now too.
I’m thinking that this will be aimed towards a mobile paintball platform to allow physically disabled people to participate in paintball games. It also has potential for Remotely Operated Security Patrols and Law Enforcement.
Here are some pictures to give you an idea. It’s a bit dusty from running around outside.
I wanted to get closer to releasing a smaller version for people who want to build some tank designs of their own. This will be the smallest I will go. Jim has awesome track kits and parts for smaller bots. And even for bigger ones. In fact his tracks could have been doubled up and used on something this big but I needed an all rubber track in this case. With lynxmotion’s tracks now available, there is really no need for more people to try and flood the market with copycats. So I try to stay focused on just the big stuff that is outside of Lynxmotions product range. Jim owns hobby robotics , I’m trying to fill the gap between hobby and industrial. But leaning mostly towards Large Heavy Duty designs.
omg, that thing is incredible, id hate to met up with it if i was some sort of bad guys
im curious about the scope, does it serve a function? because i see a lazer (i think) below it, does the scope contain some sort of imaging device to track the bad guy?
also, wat is that think on the back? is that an RC car tire?
LOL, it’s not a tire. It’s just a pressure gauge. For what, you’ll have to guess.
The scope has an integrated digital camera. You can’t actually see through it. It runs to a wireless transmitter in the chassis. I have another scope that has electronic zoom.
This paintball system is intended for moderate to far distance firing. Not so much close range.
The laser aimer is for close range reference. There will be another camera on the gun, 1 on the front of the chassis and 1 on the back.
HEY, this is a lot like my MARC Robot JK, its similar, but im sure it will go down to the way they work which is a big difference. as you know, Im in to these kinda things and that looks great! 8)
The CO2 tank is mounted in the turret so there’s no CO2 lines running in the chassis. This is just a rough mock up, a lot of stuff is missing from it and the turret is an old design. The new one is nicer.
The gauge on the chassis is for the compressor mounted inside it. I’m adding 4 stabilizer legs on it operated by air cylinders to raise the chassis off the ground for more accurate stationary shooting.
I’ve been in the patent process for both MART and MARV for the last year so I assure you I didn’t steal your idea. But you can expect a letter from my lawyer… LOL… just kidding.
I saw your thread and your project sounds great. I can’t wait to see some pictures of it.
lol thanks. Im having some trouble with the design right now as things didnt go so well with my original design. The next one will be stronger, water-tight and more simple.
Redesigning can be discouraging. I have done it so many times. Went with a design and put loads of work into it only to realize that you have no choice but to do it totally different. LOL Sucks.
But I guess that’s the fun of designing from scratch.
wow, thats awesome, air cylinder stabilazatio legs, i was gonna guess it was for a compressor that fill air tanks up on the inside of the chassis, the air tank would power one of the many air powered police weapons, such as the pepperball shots, hard plasticv projectile (forget the name) r the air powered ring shooter
