Malatorys Spider -=[Long over do work started]

Um, I don’t actually know much about USB cameras yet. I did put the question to a guy at work who has done some camera and DSP work recently and he may have put me on a path that can be developed. I noticed David took the serial camera down from the products page of WiBotics so that is sort of out as a quick-kill option. Do you know of any specific USB camera mod projects that might be a fit or adaptable to the serial transfer thing? If I get something going I’ll either tag it on the WiPort thread or start a new one.

I wrote up an assembly guide and posted it a while back in a different thread.
I’ll see if I can track it down and repost it here.
I’m sure that none of you guys will need it, but maybe someone else will later on.
I think I explained how the jumper enables and the seperate ports worked, too, which might be helpfull.

Are you guys talking about using a USB camera, like a web cam, to work with the Wi-Port? :open_mouth:

Just a minute… Let me pull up a chair…

IM IN TOO!

yes, do tell

start a new one … You could always get one of the CVS Camcorders for 30.oo and hack that to use a USB conection. I know the firmware has gone through a couple revisions and the hacks I new last year are surly dead now. I been wanting to get a new one and do a flash back type artical on it and updated how-to.

yeah the old sony Ericson digital Phone that David had on his site was almost ordered with my WiPort. looks like I might have missed that

(content went elsewhere.)

I got some movement from the spider tonight … tried a couple of different ways to move and I need to refine it some.

warning 10meg is size

I also got 2 other packages today … one I was not expecting so fast, other misc parts for the spider.

sweet, its moves a little slow though

the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water spout…

coolio.

chunga, don’t forget to add tipsy after bitsy :stuck_out_tongue:

its nice. with the black brackets I can barely see it

you could make it go steel top secret document with out being seen (but it would have to move a bit faster)

Keep up the good work it looks real nice!!!

Sam

HEY! DONT STEEL THE JOB OF MY SURVEILLANCE ROVER!!

EVERYTHING IS HERBY COPYRIGHTED!!!

actually, if it moves slowly and in the shadows it wont be seen at all. just cover up the wires.

in the video, did you use your own gait? because it seems different than the one in the lynxmotion videos.

Very nice. I expect that you will be able to refine the walking gate over time. What were you using to control it? It looked kind of like a gumstix but was hard to see with the low light conditions.

the movement is a couple of different style. I am working on it so I can learn the SEQ program.

Yeah I know black spider on dark blue rug.

its an SSC-32 i think. looks like one at least

its an SSC-32.

Ok, in the video the width of the board looked like it was as wide as the DB9 connector.

That is because the connectors are black and hard to see due to poor lighting. And also, the gumstix’s db9 is placed in the other direction, length wise not width wise. You should turn on some lights next time :stuck_out_tongue: I wanna see the sexy robot

its more that I need it off the dark carpet.

I should have put down a couple of white boards for it to walk on.
