Hi. I’ve just bought a Makeblock Starter Robot kit (IR verions) for my son for Christmas and really enjoyed making the tank. We have also been able to program it with Scracth but find the mini USB cable required to connect it to our PC limiting. So i’ve just bought the 2.4G wireless serial for mBot v1 off your website expecting it to slot into the circuit board on the robot but it doesn’t. Is there a way of fitting this to the Makeblock RObot tank or have i bought the wrong 2.4G equipment? Thanks
Hi,
As you’ve mentioned in your question, the 2.4G wireless module for mBot (RB-Mab-127) is meant specifically for mBot. Technically, it is meant for the mCore (RB-Mab-182), which is the control board used in the mBot and is also compatible with the Auriga (RB-Mab-244).
The kit your purchased uses the Orion board (RB-Mab-105), which is not directly compatible with the 2.4G wireless module.
Therefore, you will not be able to use this part with the starter kit. As far as we know, there are no wireless options for the starter kit at this time aside from the Bluetooth module (RB-Mab-33), which does not seem to allow for wireless programming at this time.
If you wish to return your wireless module, you can do so by opening a support ticket here. Choose the Exchanges / returns department and make sure to include your invoice/order number and a link to this topic, for reference.
We hope this helps.
Sincerely,
I have the makeblock ultimate 2. Could I replace the included Bluetooth module with this 2.4G module and dongle?
Hi,
According to the manufacturer website, the (blue) wireless port on the MegaPi board is compatible with either the 2.4G or Bluetooth module, so you should have no issues using it.
Sincerely,
