Magnetic field in aluminium smelter plants

Hi!

I require your help regarding a problem I’m encountering.

Description: We have an issue where we would like to install a robot machine vision system to go around the smelter’s furnace and measure the temperature but the magnetic field is very high that even mobile phones and watches do not work. I am worried about how will the robot and thermal cameras work in such high magnetic field of 250 gauss or more and transmit data to the operator through wireless communication. I have considered the option of faraday cage but mesh view and loss in field of view of camera is a concern. any suggestions would help

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Hello there!

Unfortunately we do not have anything in our catalog powerful or resistant enough for your needs.
You could try contacting Fluke or Flir as they carry a very wide variety of heavy duty thermal cameras.

As for the wireless transmission, I think it’s gonna take a whole lot of power to transmit video data without corrupting the feed through that magnetic field. If there is a way to wire that setup, it’s going to simplify your task greatly.

Cheers!

Thank you @Magmator :slight_smile
