Lynxmotion's A4WD3 Rugged Mobile Robot

The A4WD3 mobile platform is the latest in a line of Lynxmotion's four wheel drive rovers. This latest semi-professional design includes a large rugged machined frame (aluminum and G10) which is dust and water resistant and a large access hatch.  Three different configurations use this frame: wheeled, tracked and Mecanum.

Is there a hole placement drawing available for the electronics plate? Thanks.

@davidbitton Welcome to the RobotShop Community! We’ll see what we can provide and get back to you ASAP.

Hi davidbitton,

The CAD is available on THIS page.
Just click on the CAD icon and it will download the ZIP file.

All the best,

Thanks. I missed those icons.

Let us know if you have other questions

Hee Dialfonze, I do have a question actually, I could not find in it any of the specs. What is the maximum weight these rugged rover can carry/transport? I’m looking for something which dan hold about 30-40 kg Thanks!

The payload is all relative, in that it’s affected by many factors. Initial impression is no, 30Kg would certainly be too much. The payload is affected by:

  • Angle of the terrain / surface (the higher the incline, the harder it is to climb)
  • Turning radius: These use skid steer, which forces the wheels or tracks sideways, so the higher the load, the higher the friction and the harder it is to turn
  • Operating time: The longer the motors operate at higher torque, the more current they consume, meaning the hotter they get. They need to be allowed proper time to cool off, and should not get too hot
  • Mechanically speaking, the wheels and sprockets are directly connected to the motor’s output shaft, which is not meant to support 10Kg radially.

For example, the A4WD3 mecanum can support an 18L bottle of water on a flat surface:

Thanks for the quick answer! I don’t think it will suit my project but it is quite impressive to see it carrying a 18L bottle though!
