Lynxmotion tracked platform

Almost finished with tracked platform based on 2" lynxmotion tracks. Will be following it up with idlers on top, lexan, and VIA EPIA PE-Series Mini-ITX Mainboard plus IsopodX control over the next month or two

That looks very nice! This is the sort of setup I would use on a tracked robot.

Very nicley done!

Hi

It looks good. I was wondering how heavy is it.

Love the design. Very clean and looks sturdy! 8)

yeah! good work!

Thanks guys

11 pounds as shown - I anticipate adding somewhere between 10 and 15 more to complete. Much more than that and I think I may have to modify the design slightly (i.e. more powerful motors and/or road wheels that assist in track alignment)

Nice! Keep us posted.

Great job, perfectly designed and executed.

cwkoehler,

Nice execution!

What type of extrusion are the chassis rails?

What size motors are you using?

What are the dimensions of the chassis?

How long are the tracks?

thanks

18" x 12" dimensions
42 links per track - about 46 inches each
1" aluminum extrusions

motors - banebots.com/pc/MP-28XXX-385/MP-28256-385 with a change in motor to one that is more powerful than the included one shown.

some issues need resolving - i.e. I chose 6mm aluminum rod for the idler axles and they bent (these motors are suprising powerful). so I just got some steel rod which will go in shortly

cwkoehler,

Thanks for the response.

The information is much appreciated.

I would like to duplicate your design in the near future.

I have to agree, your design is a very strong platform which seems to have a natural strength overall. I’d love to do something with Aluminum Channels as a chassis and lexan or aluminum plated over top. Think of the possibilities!! :stuck_out_tongue:
