Lynxmotion A4WD1 with Sabertooth and Pixhawk (no reverse)

Hi,

I’m trying to build a rover with Lynxmotion A4WD1, Sabertooth motor controller and Pixhawk Cube 2.1. I made it work with R/C Taranis X9D+. However, I have three questions:

  1. I cannot reverse it. Is it possible to reverse it anyhow, or is it pixhawk configuration problem?
  2. When turning left or right, it is very slow. I’ve seen it turning very fast in this video from 00:54 sec youtube.com/watch?v=tYPbA6zms88.
  3. I’ve connected Sabertooth to 6V NiHM battery, and pixhawk to LiHV 3S 11.4V battery. Even though the system works, I’m wondering is this good configuration, because I notices some LED lights from pixhawk when I turn off LiHV battery. I could connect both system to only one battery, but I’m curious. I would like to connect motors to slower battery because if connected to 12V battery it is too fast.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Iovna,

The best is always to refer to the ArduPilot website.

  1. This is probably a mix of both the Sabertooth and PixHawk configuration. The Sabertooth will have the Tank mode enabled already or you made that in the PixHawk config ?
  2. Above ?
  3. Both could be powered by the same battery. However make sure you do not use the 5V out of the sabertooth. This is rated for low current like a R/C receiver only.

Nice build
