hello I have a AL5D arm with the wrist motion it is about 5 to 6 years old , I am using Lynxmotion 1.06 software , but I have a new laptop with windows 10 on it and I cannot install the 1.06 . I see that there is a new board with usb instead of the com port . is there a difference in software for the 2 boards. dose new software come with the new board . any ideas for me getting the arm to work on win 10.

The RIOS software is a legacy software that has been discontinued. The main reason behind this is that it does not officially support any modern OS (official support stopped at Windows Vista).
We can recommend a few alternatives:

Hi,
The SSC-32U offers a few features. As you mentioned, it has extra capacitors which removes the need for a 9 V DC input on VL. Instead, providing 6 V DC on VS1 is now enough (make sure the VS=VL jumper is NOT present).
Of course, using a USB port nowadays is much easier than a DE9 connector. Another great feature is the addition of the XBee socket, which allows to send commands to the SSC-32U remotely using any compatible Bee modules, which can allow you to use many wireless technologies (Bluetooth, Bluetooth BLE, ZigBee, LoRa, WiFi, etc).
When it comes to software, the SSC-32U is completely compatible with the SSC-32, so no software change is required.

cam FlowArm PLTW save programs that were written and install different saved programs like the old software .
with the old board with the com port input can I chose a com port with the SSC-32 servo sequencer utility or is it only auto mode for the usb model . I am using a usb to com port adapter
Unfortunately, the older software and FlowArm are not compatible at all and there is not way to directly import old patterns.
The COM port that is used by your computer is the one you should use (AUTO mode will work, as long as you have the right baud rate set). Whether it is a DE9 connector directly (SSC-32), a USB connector (SSC-32U) or a DE9-to-USB adapter, they are all COM ports from the computer’s point of view due to the drivers using that interface. This standard interface was kept to have backward compatibility with older systems while allowing simple communication with newer ones.
ya I see cannot get the new software to work with the old board on win 10 . I will install a ssd drive for the time being and install win 8 on it so he can make a presentation for his collage application .then I will have my sister send me the board from the states . will both the FlowArm PLTW and the FlowBotics Studio have the same features for the AL5D robotic arm .

I installed win 8 and then win 7 on my sons hp pavilion dv6 laptop, and I am getting an error of . error reading ComCombo Box 1 with the rios 1.05 software. anyone have any ideas that I can try . need to get it working for him so he can practice until his new board and software come. I installed it on my desktop with win 8 and it is working , cant figure it out. would appreciate any help/

On new Windows installation this is a typical error as you may be missing some Microsoft libraries (it was a common type of issue back on Windows XP/Vista/7/8).

hello again . my sister gust got my SSC-32U USB Servo Controller in the mail today and will be sending it to me today .my sister ordered the FlowArm PLTW Download version software but it did not go threw in the order . so I will order it with paypal . question is I cannot find the download . is there a link for it or do I have to wait for the serial key to come . and can I change the from my laptop to my desktop to work on programs .

hello again quick question just got the SSC-32U USB board here in Croatia this morning friday ,sister sent it from the states on Monday quick delivery . got it up and running a few issues with the usb ports but it is ok now. I had a red exclamation point on the side of the FlowArm PLTW program of an up date but it went away now , the last number of the software I saw was a 7 I believe and mine was a 6 at the end , I am getting a few bugs with the program not responding at times will the up date show up again . or is there a way to download the newer software .

The update is available now. Simply access it from the red exclamation mark on the top right, download it, close the software and install the update.
