Lynx motion AL5D

Hi,
I’ve assembled the AL5D for class but the arm isn’t working with the software. It connects with flow arm and says that the al5d is found. I’ve tried flipping the cords connecting the servos to the circuit board to make sure that they were right. None of the pre-loaded patterns work. If i mess with the cords connecting the servos to the circuit board, the al5d twitches and moves in short bursts. I just want to know if it’s the software or bad wiring on my part.

Can you provide a variety of photos of your setup, especially the electronics? You can add attachments here below the WYSIWYG editor here. We’ll see if we can spot anything evident.
The following tend to be the main causes of issues:

  • Servos incorrectly plugged into the SSC-32U (pulse / signal goes to yellow, red goes to the center pin and black goes to GND)
  • Servo extension cables miswired (check that in all cases where you use a servo extension cable that yellow goes to yellow, red to red and black to black)
  • Check that the power adapter wires are properly inside the screw terminals and red goes to positive, black goes to ground and there are no loose wires.
  • Check which pins on the SSC-32U you have connected to each servo
  • USB is plugged into your computer, the board is powered and detected and the computer automatically installed the right drivers.

my setup

Good to know the SSC-32U has been detected by the software.
Your cable connections to the board seem find, with GND on the outside. Can you check the servo extensions are plugged correctly as well?

]Remove all but the servo connected to pin 0 (we’ll test one servo at a time)./:m]
]Open the software/:m]
]Connect the power to the barrel adapter/:m]
]Connect the USB cable (obviously)/:m]
]Flip the switch to ON (with the switch pointing to the two connectors which have wires soldered)/:m]
]Check that the board is detected./:m]
]Move the base on screen and see if the base of the robot moves./:m]
If you have issues, install this software and repeat the steps.

If you don’t have issues, proceed with each servo at the correct pin, then do combinations, pin 0 and pin 1, pin 0, 1 and 2 etc.

Await your update.
