LSS Arm Servo Colour Cycling

If I program my arm’s base servo motor to rotate say 45 degrees then it will rotate say 2 degrees then stop and and cycle through the coloured lights. Same if I run it again. All the other servos work fine using the same commands

It seems like your base servo is doing a power-cycle (reset). Unsure at this moment why, but a likely reason would be a brownout (low voltage).

Please try the following:

  1. Power off the arm
  2. Disconnect the cable going from the base LSS to the shoulder. This should leave only the base LSS connected to the LSS Adapter Board
  3. Ensure the LSS Adapter Board is connect by USB to your computer and the COM port is recognized
  4. Power on the arm again
  5. Run LSS Config to connect to the base servo
  6. Make the base LSS move using the left most controls or the command line (ex: MD900 to move 90 degrees clockwise)
  7. If the LSS does a reset, it should be pretty clear in the graph and status. Pause the graph data and take a screenshot of the window (ALT+PrintScreen keys) and paste it here (using CTRL+V keys, directly in your reply).

Yes, the current official software only runs on Windows at the moment.

Performing diagnostics using a Mac will be not trivial since there is no software to do so at this time.

The best I can recommend in this case would be to run it in a VM (virtual machine) or using BootCamp.

If you just need to run a quick test, you could use one of the free VM’s offered by Microsoft available here.
They are ready to go to import in most VM software formats, too! I personally use VirtualBox and found it quite easy to import and use with USB COM ports, such as the one from the LSS Adapter Board.

Thank you for the clear picture! It seems like your base LSS has a spike in current as soon as it tries to move. This typically happens when the base is assembled in a way that creates too much mechanical resistance.

Please provide some clear pictures of your LSS 4DoF robotic arm. Possibly one from the side where the picture is centered on the space between the base and the rotating platform.

Did you make any changes to the base assembly or had to readjust it before use?
