LR3 Connect: Blue light blinking, after reset yellow light blinking fast

Hi!

I require your help regarding a problem I’m encountering.

I have two LR3 connect since May 2021.
Litter Robot 3 Connect in grey (Order# 1900023532 from 18th of May 2021)
Litter Robot 3 Connect in beige (Order# 1900023769 from 29th of May 2021)

Beginning of 2022 both of the LRs had an issue with the DFI sensors and I opened problem ticket here.
After some checks the DFI sensors have been replaced (warranty) and after I did the replace both LRs worked fine.

After some months in July 2022 both LRs failed with exactly the same issue.

Knowing that I have no warranty anymore, I ordered two DFI sensors and Anti-Pinch Clips in the robotshop.com.
Order#: 1900033439 25th July 2022.
After replacing the DFI sensors and the Anti-Pinch Clips the LRs worked fine again.
The replacement parts cost me approx. 230€.

Today, after again 3 months, the grey litter robot (Order# 1900023532 from 18th of May 2021) started with the same issue again.
Blinking blue light after turning it on (with empty waste tray) and when pressing reset, the yellow light is blinking fast.
This is really weird!!

I cleaned the DFI sensors and the Anti-Pinch clips even they were not dirty at all.
This did not solve the issue.

It cannot be, that the DFI Sensors have to be replaced every 3 or 4 months. This is disappointing!!
It seems there is a general quality problem with these DFI boards/sensors.

What can I do now?
Do I have to order new DFI Sensors in your shop on my own bill again?
I am also scared that the other LR is going to fail with the same error within short time, like twice before.

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Hello @Ebram,

today the DFI replacement has been delivered.
Many thanks for your help!

I directly replaced the DFI on the LR3 and afterwards it worked again. The issue was gone.

Just for my information:
This DFI replacement is another hardware release (V2) than the original ones.
Was this DFI V2 released to avoid this issue I’ve had several times?

Many thanks again and best regards,
Frank

Hello @holderer,

Thank you for your reply.

We are glad to hear that the robot is working properly now.

Indeed, this is an improved version that’s fully enclosed inside the plastic to avoid corrosion.

However, you would still need to clean it from the outside from any dust getting stuck on it.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

Hello @Ebram,

after replacing the DFI sensor with the new version (V2), my grey LR3 is working correctly.

But now the other LR3 run into this issue again.

The history:
I bought the litter robot in May 2021
Litter Robot 3 Connect in beige (Order# 1900023769 from 29th of May 2021)
Beginning of 2022 I encountered the issue with the fast blinking blue light for the first time and I contacted the support for help.
I got a new DFI sensor (warranty) and after replacing it, the LR3 worked again.

In July 2022 the LR3 failed again with the same issue.
Knowing that I have no warranty anymore, I ordered DFI sensors and anti-pinch clips in the robotshop.com on my own cost.
Order#: 1900033439 25th July 2022.
After replacing the DFI sensor and the anti-pinch clips the LR worked fine again.

Now the LR fails with the same issue again.
Cleaning the circuit board and the the anti pinch clips does not help.
It seems the V1 version of the DFI sensors are not reliable at all :frowning:

Is it possible to get a replacement or do I have to order the parts on my own cost again?

My shipping address is:

Many thanks in advance and kind regards,
Frank

Hello @holderer,

We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your Litter-Robot again.

Unfortunately, the warranty on replacement parts is 3 months so we can’t send a new one for free.

However, the new version is cheaper and more reliable so we recommend ordering the new version for this robot as well.

Let us know if there’s anything else we could assist you with.
