I am looking at making a Murphy bed but want to make it Automated to lift and close.
Everything i have seen shows a linear piston to control the speed of the bed going up and down.
I would like ideas? Hydraulic or Pneumatic system what i would need as a kit to install. Speed can not be fast.
Like i said ideas what i would need Cost is a factor.
Hello @Meat4Grinder and welcome to the RobotShop community,
If your bed is counterweighted, a regular DC linear actuator could do the trick. To be able to choose one you’ll need to determine the maximum stroke and the point at which the actuator will be under the greatest load.
You will also need a DC motor controller maybe with wireless control (perhaps Bluetooth or Wifi). However, some linear actuators take R/C servo input, so you would select a servo motor controller. You’ll select one according to the actuators specifications, if you need help with this, this tutorial might help:
