Looking for an Arduino to 4g cellular solution

Hello.

I am looking for an arduino to cellular product for a project. Hopefully something that is relatively inexpensive. All that I need is data, and high speed is not required (but would be nice.) What products are available in medium to large quantities? Of course, to start, I will only need a smaller quantity (5 or so.)

Thank you.

Hi @TOliver_Ethoguard and welcome to the forum

there are several 3G GSM-shields for Arduino. but 4G are rare.
Here’s what I found on guugel

Yes, I had found some of the same, but was hoping for something less expensive. For a few pieces it is doable, but when we will need hundreds+ it gets expensive. I guess once we get to the production phase, we will have to get the chips directly and produce them ourselves.

What I don’t understand is why I am able to find 4g laptop modems for $30 but anything for arduino/raspberry pi is 2 to 5 times as much. Not really a question, more of a rant, I guess.

I believe the prices will drop, once a better product comes along (5G)
Those laptop modems are cheaper, because they can be built in bigger numbers. (one size fits all, so to speak)
If you ask chip-manufacturers for a quote about 100 chips, they won’t probably even answer.
Unless, they see a new market-niche with potential.
