Load Cell / Wheatstone Amplifier Shield (2ch) - Change gain

Hi,

I have one Load Cell / Wheatstone Amplifier Shield (2ch). Notice that there is a fixed 100 ohm resister connecting to the amplifier which sets the gain to 495. If i would like to change the gain to a smaller value, I guess i would need to change that resistor. But since the 100 ohms is embedded in the board, is there any way that i can change the resistor so that change the gain? Thank you.

Hi,

Unfortunately, the only way to modify the gain on the Load Cell Shield would be to change the SMD gain resistor. Please take a look at this blog post :

The gain of the amplification per channel is dependent on the Gain1 / Gain2 resistors. The AD8426 default gain is 1 without a gain resistor. The standard gain resistor value of the shield is 100 Ohm (for each channel) for a gain of 495. These resistors can be replaced depending on the user’s application with the appropriate ones. The gain can be calculated by using the following gain equation (from AD8426 datasheet) : Rgain= 49400/(Gain-1)
