LMR logo kit

(Bytes)

Hi Folks,

today,  LMR's first Birthday,  you've all discovered the new LMR logo

letsmakerobots.png

Fritsl had the very good idea of a logo kit, available to everybody.

here it is https://www.robotshop.com/letsmakerobots/files/LMR_logo_kit.zip

it contains various sizes of the logo, in color, grayscale, black/white   (biggest is 4000x1000pixel)

with the additional

lmr_com.jpg

  to use in videos

+ the original PSD files

and the original SVG file of logobot, made by psy

+ an XLS file containing the “rules” to redraw, and a rescaler

The images are released into the public domain

enjoy ;)

Woohoo! I’ll be adding these
Woohoo! I’ll be adding these to my next videos

Yeeha

Yay! We have a logo now! I will most definitely be using these in videos.

The world’s best motto: When all else fails, use a bigger hammer.

Stonking
This is superb!

I just saw that Rik is now

I just saw that Rik is now linking to this page from “how to make video”, and it is also now linked to from the About page

It’s official

Web Address

None of these logos have the web address on so far as I can see.

Mike

The one for video does :stuck_out_tongue:

I can tell from the stats
I can tell from the stats that really many are just using google to find us… as long as they have the name.

Next time! But thanks

Next time! But thanks anyway.

Mike

you’re welcomebut I’m not

you’re welcome

but I’m not happy with this version, it’s not balanced as expected

flee
In The Netherlands, it’s the ants that get molested by the detail minded folks like us.

Chickens

I thought all Dutch aphorisms were about chickens. All the ones that my mother-in-law, who comes from Rotterdam, comes out with have chickens in them.

Mike

Yeah, she sounds Rotterdams already
But this pertains to care for details specifically. Then it’s ants (not aunts, mind you!).

Chickens vs Goats
I dunno. Fritsy does go on about his goat herd from time to time.

favicon

As discussed in “We need a logo on LMR. or do we?”, we need a favicon for LMR.

Here’s one based on brainbot / bubblebot.

brainbot500.gif

Well, actually it's only a 32x32 pixel gif version of the robot.svg file. Drupal refuses to let me upload an .ico file. But you get the idea. And I am sure you could generate a favicon yourself.

The problem though is that

The problem though is that favicons are 16x16, and at that res, the robot looks kind of unintelligible:

robot_favicon.gif

But yes, Frits asked me a while back to set it as the favicon and I've been busy, but now that you reminded me, I'll go ahead and do it now :)

browsers diff()
I believe that some browsers display larger icons. Not sure. Not in the mood to test thoroughly either.

Bigger Favicons

I’m fairly sure that you can do 32x32 or even 64x64 favicons. I’m not sure how older browsers will handle these. I’ve also had problems with some of the on-line favicon maker app’s.

At 16x16 I prefered the old R! - at least it was distinct. On my monitor, the new one is just a yellow and blue blurry dot.

If you can’t get a bigger icon, how aboiut using a part of the brain bot - maybe, its eyes and shoulders.

Four elements

It just dawned on me that this logobot contains four fabulous sub-logos. Could someone with VSG editing skillz deconstruct the original design perhaps?

  • Ideas: bubbles in jar, or maybe an blueprinted version of an outlined logobot?
  • Electronics: eyes
  • Mechanics: body with tracks
  • Programming: brain
We could really use these four graphics in the design of the site. Webmasters permitting.
