Litterrobot open air-yellow light flashing rapidly

Hi @elicewang,

It seems that you have Litter Robot 3 version not 2?

Are maybe Anti-pinch pins corroded?

Did you maybe disassemble the globe recently?

I have a 3 and having the exact same issue, yellow light flashing rapidly. Cleaned and checked the pins. What’s next?

Hey @andaphoto, what happens when you press Reset?

When it sits for awhile it goes back to blue blinking, but Everytime we try to hit reset, it goes right back to rapid yellow blinking, maybe 5 times a second or something like that. And the unit isn’t doing anything besides flashing… I’m scooping. It’s been cleaned, drawer empty, pins cleaned, nothing.

Hey @andaphoto, if you are having blue blinking light then the DFI sensor should be replaced.

Are you still in warranty?

Not sure we have two one is the other isn’t. How can we tell, if you know

Can you provide us order IDs and serial numbers of the robots?

I have exactly same problem with my newest LR3 I bought summer -18.

I initially thought it was the question of the anti-pinch pieces (again), but they looked perfectly ok. I replaced them anyway to new ones, without any effect.

I have now tested a number of parts by changing different parts of the still functioning LR3, without any effect. I have tried out the motherboard, without effect. Also the DFI , without effect. As also the bonnet, again without any effect. So is also with the motor, no effect of switching it to the motor from the other LR3. The yellow light continues to flash rapidly.

All parts I have tested with, functions perfectly on other LR3.

And just as Andaphotoa tells about her LR3-problem with the flashing yellow light, also mine may go back to the blue light, but as soon I press the “Reset”, starts the rapid yellow flashing again. Same happens if I press on “Cycling” or “Emptying”. Nor do it help to try to simulate a cat by pressing on the globe, it doesn’t start cycling, the flashing yellow light just continues.

Hey @Leif,

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with the robot.

What you explained there seems like a DFI hardware issue (blue blinking light which turns to fast blinking yellow light).

You mentioned that you tried replacing DFI sensor from your working Litter Robot. Have in mind that after replacement of DFI, the error code needs to be RESET by following troubleshooting. Have you done that?

What troubleshooting?
It is impossible to for example hard reset, since after you press on any button, the yellow light starts to flash — and nothing else happens.

Yes, I have done that. And as told before, no effect.
As I see this, it can’t be a question of defected parts as motor, DFI, motherboard, bonnet, anti-pinch pieces - since all these parts do function perfectly on the other LR3. I have tested all these parts in both LR3.

@Leif, it has to be one of the parts

Since you mentioned almost all of the parts, only left ones are power supply adapted, cat sensor, Hall-effect sensor (wiring harness). Or you also already tried them?

You had right. The only part I hadn’t tested was the Hall-effect wiring harness. The problem is solved with a new harness kit. But I do wonder what might cause this kind of problem, since the wiring of the harness is quite protected.

I suppose this should be covered by warranty, since it is less than two years i bought this LR3.

Hey @Leif, it is good that you found the problematic part!

Usually, the Hall-effect sensor is replaced if there are issues with positioning of the globe. For example, sensor cannot detect well position of the globe. So, it happens that the globe doesn’t stop while cycling where is should, it goes too much in one side, and it activates anti-pinch safety which results in fast blinking yellow light. Was this also the case with your robot?

Or simply, some of the wires in wiring harness was broken and because of that, circuit board wasn’t getting signal that anti-pinch pins are OK.

If you bought your robot via RobotShop, please provide your order ID so we can check your warranty status.

Well, my LR3 didnt stop cycling in the middle of everything, it just let go of cycling altogether and started to flash yellow light very quickly. The wires on the wiring harness looks OK, but I suppose some of the wires probapbly is broken even if I can’t see it. I thought today that I could certainly start assembling these for profession, since I begin to be quite familiar with the “soul” of LR3’s.

Is the order ID same as ordernumber mentioned in order confirmation? If so, the order number was 734082, it was shipped August 24 2018 (made order about 2-3 weeks before).

You are still in warranty. We will transfer this conversation to our internal support so you can obtain your warranty.
