Litter Robot Stuck Upside Down with blinking blue light

Hi All

I’ve had a Litter Robot 3 (not connect) for about a year. The past 2 months it has started to get stuck and causing issues with the cats relieving themselves elsewhere. It gets stuck upside down and the blue light blinks constantly. Hard reset doesn’t work. And I’ve been taking it apart and cleaning the pinch area and cleaning the track. It still gets stuck upside down within 2 cycles. I do not have the warranty on it, and litter robot support is not responding. I know I might need a new part but I want to know what part I need to replace. It’s a great item - when it works.

Sorry, the hard reset doesn’t work, like literally doesn’t do anything. I have to physically reposition it myself.

Hello @savvyewllb,

Welcome to RobotShop community.

We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your Litter-Robot.

Was the yellow light blinking quickly when the robot got stuck upside down and when you unplugged the robot trying to rest it, it started to blink blue light instead?

Awaiting your reply.

Sincerely,

@Ebram , it is a rapid yellow light. I had to refer back to my video.

Hello @savvyewllb,

Thank you for your reply.

Please try to clean the 2 green circuit boards and the 2 plastic brackets of the DFI sensor using isopropyl alcohol and a Q-Tip to remove any rust or dust from them.

Here’s a video to help you locate these parts:

We will also need to see the 3 pairs of contact pins shown in the following videos:
Anti-Pinch Pins:

Bonnet’s Pin:

Base’s Pin:

No need to take them out of the robot, we only need to see them from the outside.

Awaiting your reply.

Sincerely,

Hello ebram I haven’t taken it apart yet but just ran it for the first time, and I can tell you where it gets stuck. After it empties and it should start rolling back to normal position, it actually tries to keep going in the wrong direction and that’s when it stops and starts flashing the yellow light

Hello @savvyewllb,

Thank you for your reply.

In this case, you are having two separate issues:

1- Blue blinking light (Cleaning the DFI sensor should fix it, if not… it’ll need to be replaced)

2- Failing to find the dump/home positions.

The issue could be coming from 2 parts:

1- Magnets inside the globe.

Please test the magnets by putting any metallic object on these two areas circled in red and check if the magnets would attract the object or not:

2- Misplaced or defective hall-effect sensor:

If the magnets are okay then the issue is coming from the hall-effect sensor and it needs to be replaced.

We have attached a guide to show you how to replace this sensor.

Awaiting your reply.

Sincerely,

So actually I took the base apart and the pinch contacts were gummed up w moist litter. I cleaned them and reset them and it’s cycled 3 times with no problem.

Magnets were all checked while I was there as well

Thank you
