I have the most recent model, 2019.
Same thing, front half of cat enters, back half of cat pees everywhere. I’m in the warranty period and may return it now that I see this is a consistent error, especially since my other cat is outright refusing it and using my clothing as a litter box. This tells me the company didn’t test enough cats.
For other owners; I have a pee covered ramp and shield. He puts his front paws in and releases.
I’ll try turning the litter box so that’s more difficult, but overall it isn’t promising.
Hi there,
Since you are protected by the manufacturer’s 90 Day Money-Back Guarantee we suggest that you try the following “tips” to get your cats to use the Litter-Robot. Sometimes it takes time but, it is certainly worth the try.
If you see no improvements in a few weeks then I will send you in the private support for the return of the product.
Some customers have used the penny trick in this case. Hang a penny with a string so it hangs in the opening of the Litter-Robot. This will tingle the cats back to back sure that it goes farther inside the Litter-Robot and turns around until the cat gets used to turning around automatically when entering the Litter-Robot.
- When starting out with the Litter-Robot leave it turned OFF. Wait until you see evidence of consistent use before turning it on and leaving it in automatic mode. If a clean cycle is required during the acclimation period, just run the cycle manually by turning the unit ON and then OFF again after the cycle has completed. Once you feel your cat is comfortable using the Litter-Robot you can then resume the automatic mode (leaving the unit ON).
- Keep the old litter box in the same room or next to the Litter Robot and let it fill up. This will give your cat a choice between the clean Litter-Robot and a not so clean litter box.
- Entice your cat to approach the litter-robot by using some catnip or it’s favorite treat.
- Add a scoop of litter from the old litter box in order to provide a familiar smell.
I hope this helps.
