Litter-Robot III Open Air Basic Troubleshooting Guide | RobotShop Community

Hi,
we have a problem with our litter robot 3. It starts cycling until the point where it has to rotate back. There it stops as it should but then it doesn’t rotate back. Instead it rotates in the same direction for some seconds and then stops completely and the yellow light starts flashing.
Can someone help please?

Hi. I Havel trubleshoting with litter robot 3. Still blinking Yellow diode. Not posible any rotation.

Hello I just received my new LR3 open air connect, I set it up, plugged it in and I have no power to unit, I tested the outlet, it has not power but no power to unit…Any ideas? Is it DOA?

My robot III is almost 3 years old. It has a staccato cycle - it starts and stops about 15 times to complete. I’ve taken it apart and cleaned and it will work better for a week or two.

Hi Barbara,

Cleaning the robot may help to remove debris in the motor or the track of the globe.
If your robot is stopping mid-cycle, we suggest the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyUuSGSgn1A

Hi Christian,

The power supply could be defective or it could be a bad connection from the circuit board.
We suggest you contact your dealer for warranty.

Hi,

Based on the description of the yellow light blinking while the cycle has been interrupted, please follow the troubleshooting below to determine whether the issue is due to excess weight, the bonnet connection, or the Anti-Pinch safety feature:

*The blinking yellow light will switch to blinking red after 2 minutes if the cat sensor (CATS) has been continuously activated by excess weight. Please remove excess weight and check your unit for the following:

  • The litter is above the fill line or in excess of 10lbs.
  • The cat sensor has not been reset after adding weight
  • The waste drawer has too much weight
  • The unit is sitting on an uneven surface - grout lines on tile floor or in a bathtub.
  • The unit is pushed into a corner, against a wall, or furniture
  • Objects are resting or pressing on the unit

If the yellow light is blinking once per second:

  1. Press the ‘Power’ button to turn the unit OFF.
  2. Remove the bonnet and set it aside, then manually rotate the globe to the Home position.
  3. Ensure the globe is on the track and lock the black key on the back of the globe into the pocket.
  4. Replace the bonnet, ensuring all 4 tabs are secured.
  5. Press the ‘Power’ button to turn the unit back ON.

**The globe will not rotate and the yellow light will blink if the issue is due to the bonnet connection. Please check that the key is fully inserted into the slot and that all 4 bonnet tabs are connected to the base of the unit. See the following link for assembly instructions: http://litterrobot.kayako.com/Knowledgebase/Article/View/56/18/assembling-litter-robot-open-air

  1. The globe begins rotating counterclockwise with the solid yellow light on. After several seconds, press the ‘Reset’ button to pause the cycle.
  2. While the cycle is paused, press ‘Reset’ again to cancel the cycle and return to Home position.

***The globe will stop and reverse direction for 2 seconds before stopping with the yellow light blinking fast if the Anti-Pinch safety feature has been activated. Your base will need to be repaired.

The globe will return to Home position with the solid blue light on when properly functioning.

If the yellow light is blinking twice per second:

The Anti-Pinch safety feature is two pin connected to the motherboard that must touched each other continuously.

If they are separated, you will have an alarm(yellow blinking light). The Anti-Pinch safety is located in the top back left of the Litter-Robot base. You will need to unplug the unit, remove the bonnet, the globe and the drawer.

It is ‘‘Two Metal’’ pin. With a flashlight, you should be able to see if they are touching each other or not. If they are not touching each other, try to re-position it with a flat screwdriver by pushing them upwards.

We hope this information will help you resolve the problem

Hi Nadine,

We believe that your unit will need to be repaired.
It seems like the Hall Effect sensors are not able to track the position of the globe.

I will explain in detail what I see thas is happening. If the robot works in position “manual” it works in reverse. If you press the “Cycle” button, the robot empties the sand through the hole and if you press the “Empty” button it is when you filter the excrement correctly, that is, as you can see, there is something inverted. and when it works automatically, it does the same thing, the other way around.

Hi Ingrid,

If the unit is still under warranty and you have bought it with RobotShop, contact us via our support center.

Else, you may verify the polarity of the motor inside the control panel. (How to open the panel)
Make sure the red wire is connected to the green one and the brown one to the white one.

Hi,

If you have no lights on the control panel while the Litter-Robot is plugged in, it could be a few issues:

  • The power supply might be defective: if possible please verify it with a voltmeter.
  • If you leave the unit plugged in, is the control panel hot at touch?
  • It could also be the circuit board that is defective.

Once you have performed this simple test, you may contact us via our support center to verify your warranty information.

Hi,

Thank you for your question.
The night light should not affect the functioning of the Litter-Robot.
If you want, you may temporarily disable the night mode.
Note that this issue is mostly due to a defective bonnet or connection between the bonnet and the base.

My open air is stopping mid cycle, when you press rest it circles all the way around to the same stopped position. Yellow light is blinking. I have unplugged it and I have taken it apart and put it in the home position. It goes back to being upside down.

Good morning,
I have a new question. Now we re realized that after cycling proces the yellow light doesn t turn off. The blue light stays with the yellow light fixed when only the blue light should be on. What is happening?
Thanks.

It seems that your robot is in the 8-hour sleep mode.
To quit this mode, simply press and hold the “Cycle” button until the yellow light turn off.

Hi,

It seems like the hall effect sensor could be defective, causing the robot to be unable to track the globe’s position.

My Open Air is rotating clockwise when it cycles, or when i hit cycle. it then rotates back just past default position and then back to default. If I hit empty, it rotates clockwise. I am getting no error lights and it is plugged directly into power at the wall.

The inside flap on my box keeps coming down and not allowing he box to clear. How do I fix this?
