Litter robot: dumping lots of clean litter

I’ve recently cleaned my litter robot and made sure the lever was in the key, trying to get the thing to stop dumping a bunch of clean litter.

A bunch of clean litter doesn’t go through the sifter plate and ends up being dumped in the tray. I’ve tried troubleshooting a bunch of different ways, to no avail.

Is there something I’m missing? Please help!

Hi @EchoLynn and welcome to the forum!

The Litter-Robot litter sifting system requires a clumping type litter to work properly.
We recommend a high-quality clay-based clumping litter such as Litter-Robot™ brand premium clumping litter. Litter beads and crystals may also be used with the Litter-Robot as long as the beads and crystals are small enough to pass through the screen – periodic changing of this type of litter is required.

Litters that DO NOT work in the Litter-Robot are the strictly absorbent, non-clumping litters, newspaper based litters, loose clumping litters, and absorbent wood-based pellets.

Which litter type are you using? Probably its dimensions are not small enough to pass through sifting system…

I have the same problem. I am using cats best biodegradable clumping litter. Some does go through the sieve, so it is not too big. It is not over full, the ring is visible all round. I think the problem might be that it is not as heavy as clay litter so it does not fall as fast. I wish I could slow the rotation down, but I don;t know if that;s possible. Did you get any other advice apart from using clumping litter, which obviously had nothing to do with your problem?

Hey @sbgrantham,

It is not possible to slow it down. At least not by end customer.

We recommend trying different types of litter until you find some that suits you. Here are some recommendations: https://www.catfooddispensersreviews.com/best-litter-for-the-litter-robot/

Thank you so much for doing this research and sharing it. I really really appreciate it as will loads of other users. From watching all of your demos, I can see that my light weight plant based biodegradable litter will never be effective and is sailing across the sieve because it is too light.

Just realised you might not know what I’m talking about so check out https://www.catfooddispensersreviews.com/best-litter-for-the-litter-robot/?utm_source=rb-community&utm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=litter-robot-dumping-lots-of-clean-litter
