Litter Robot 3 Sensor issue

Hello. I somewhat recently replaced the sensor in my litter robot 3 after going through all of the diagnostics with the manufacturer. Since replacing the sensor, I cannot get the robot to work properly. I have, much to my frustration, been adjusting the nut on the sensor to try and get it to work right and it is just not working. It is now stuck on the red light and I have been scooping the litter myself for the past few months. I also want to mention that my cat has a kidney issue and so tend to urinate quite a bit of fluid at times that could be affecting the sensor(?). Should I assume the new sensor (from the manufacturer) is broken? I have checked the contacts in the hood and they appear to have clean contacts. I am not sure where to go from here. I’m not too keen on sending the unit in for repair as I live in Alberta and I can’t imagine what the cost to post it would be. My unit is no longer under warranty. Any ideas?

Kindly,

Sian

Hello @Sian ,

Welcome to RobotShop community.

We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your Litter-Robot.

Can you please send us a photo of your cat sensor inside the base and underneath the robot? See the photos below as a reference.

You can also send us a short video of your issue when you turn on the robot, so we can observe the robot’s behavior. The problem could also be related to the circuit board.

We look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,

Hello @Sian,

Thank you for the photos, everything seems to be properly installed.

Please let us know if you get a flashing red light or a steady red light. If it’s a steady red light, does it eventually turn back to blue, with or without a cleaning cycle, or does it stay constantly on red?

We are awaiting your response.

Best regards,

Hello. It stays constantly red with no cleaning cycle.

Thank you.

Hello @Sian ,

Make sure the foot screw of the cat sensor is not too tight with the nut, as this could cause the sensor to be constantly engaged, preventing the robot from tilting backward to detect the cat’s passage.

Please refer to the following video to check if the robot tilts properly backward: https://youtu.be/-oZKxL0udCs?si=uePlLpZlDataWWJd
