Litter Robot 3 red light and interior light issue

My litter robot 3 red light turns on without a cat entering it, and I have to manually cycle the globe to dump the litter. The light turns solid blue after a cycle, but changes to red about 5 minutes after the completed cycle, without a cat entering the globe.

The blue interior light also turns on and off constantly even with the light sensor being covered.

I’ve found that when the globe is cycling, once it has reached the “top” of the rotation, after the pause and when it continues to return back to the “bottom”, it does a small surge and continues to finish the cycle normally. Adding to note that after it has been powered off for an extended period of time, then turned back on, it will constantly surge through the initial cycle entirely. I have to turn it off and on yet again to get it to work “normally” as described above.

Notes to consider:

  • the litter is below the fill line
  • nothing seems to be wrong with the bonnet
  • there are no obstructions in the track on the globe
  • the unit has been deep cleaned recently
  • unplugged and plugged back in doesn’t fix the issue
  • there is still a gap in the pin for the power jack
  • the unit is on level, sturdy ground and away from a wall
  • the battery backup is installed into my litter robot

I have been advised to replace the entire base, but am looking for second opinions in the chance that I can save some money if it is in fact a couple of parts being replaced that can fix my issues.
