Litter Robot 3 - Loud Stutter

Hi all,

I’ve had the litter robot 3 for 4 years. It was working fine until today. For some reason, in mid rotation it started making loud stuttering sound like something is jammed. It’s stopped on the return cycle halfway and restarts the cycle. This goes on automatically unless the machine is being switch off manually. Please advise on how to troubleshoot this issue. Thanks.

Hi Ebram,
Thank you for your prompt reply. The LED light yellow at mid cycle and when it stopped, all 3 light were blinking. And the rotation restarted.

Hello @Elixxa,

Thank you for your reply.

Were the 3 lights blinking in a sequence or all together?

If in sequence, please tell us the order.

And again, it would be so helpful if you can provide us with a video of the issue.

Sincerely,

Hello @Elixxa,

Thank you for sending us the video.

It seems that the motor is struggling to rotate in the counterclockwise direct so we need to take a test to check if that’s the case.

Please follow these steps:

  • Turn the power off.
  • Remove the bonnet.
  • Remove the globe and place it on a table or any convenient place for the next step.
  • Remove the internal shield and the black key on the back of the globe (use this blog to help you locate and remove them).
  • Place the globe back on the base and make sure it’s perfectly placed.
  • Put the bonnet on.
  • Turn the power on.
  • Let the unit finish the cleaning cycle.

If the stuttering sound is gone and the globe reached home position with blue light normally then the issue was in the internal shield, if the issue still persists then the motor is the issue and needs to be replaced.

Let us know how it goes.

Sincerely,

Hi Ebram,
I have done all the steps as instructed. It rotated full cycle back to home and the light changed to blue. However, the sound was still there but very faint. But after placing sand, it got stuck back to square one with a loud sound with 3 lights blinking. What should I do now?

Hello @Elixxa,

Thank you for your reply.

In this case, the motor needs to be replaced.

Do you have an extended warranty or you are out of warranty?

Sincerely,

Hi Ebram,

Firstly I would to correct on the year I bought the machine. I just saw the receipt. The purchased was made on Jan, 28 2019. I’m not sure if the warranty is still valid.
