Litter Robot 3 Home Position Fault

Hi!

We got a Litter Robot 3 about 6 months ago.
Yesterday it showed a Home Position Fault (all lights blinking sequentially from red to blue).

I can’t seem to find anything online that deals with this precise issue.
Would anyone have any suggestion?

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Hello @Riccardo_and_Anna,

Welcome to RobotShop community.

We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your Litter-Robot.

Please provide us with your order number or a copy of the invoice.

Are you using the original adapter and plugging it directly into the wall?

Have you disassembled the globe before?

Awaiting your reply.

Sincerely,

Hi Ebram.

Our order number was 957689 (invoice below).

The unit was plugged into an extension cord with the original adapter. I tried plugging it directly into the wall socket, but it still showing the lights.
If I hit Reset and then Cycle, it cycles normally, but then goes back to the blinking lights.

Any idea?

Thanks!!

Hello @Riccardo_and_Anna,

Thank you for your reply.

Do you notice that the globe over-rotates on its way back to the home position?

You didn’t answer if you have opened up the globe before or not.

Awaiting your reply.

Sincerely,

Hi Ebram.

Globe’s position at the end of a cycle is normal (centered).

Apologies for missing the other question before.

I did disassembled the unit once a couple on months ago because I thought the sensors needed cleaning, but turned out it was an issue with the type of bags I was using…
We didn’t have any other issues between the time I re-assembled the unit and yesterday when the lights started…

Hello @Riccardo_and_Anna,

Thank you for your reply.

In this case, the hall-effect sensor is defective and needs to be replaced.

This blog will show you how to replace it, please check it and let us know if you are able to replace it by yourself if we sent you a new one or not:

Awaiting your reply.

Sincerely,

Hi Ebram.

Thank for your reply.

The procedure looks delicate but the post seems to illustrate all of the steps, I think we should we able to do it.

Just one question:

I was looking at the comments below the post, and one comment suggested they had to also replace the motor after they replaced the harness. Do you think that might be a problem for us as well, or is there a difference between the two problems that I haven’t spot?

Thank you!

Hello @Riccardo_and_Anna,

Thank you for your reply.

The motor is needed to be replaced if you notice that the globe is barely moving or the motor is making too much noise.

In your case, replacing the hall-effect should be enough.

We will forward you to our internal support system to carry on with the process.

You will receive an email shortly with further instructions.

Have a lovely day, stay safe.

Sincerely,
