Litter Robot 3 derails / goes off-track

Hello,

Recently, I encountered the problem that my Litter Robot 3 derails or goes slightly off track mid-cycle (during the phase of dumping the litter).

Please see the video below, it happens at the 0:35 to 0:45 second mark.

Now, if I am next to it when it happens, and give it a soft push, it pops back on track and cycles properly.
If I’m not around to do this, it will get stuck, then return to home position without dumping the litter (returning them to original place), and the robot will show ‘can’t find Dump position error’ (sequential blinking of blue > yellow > red lights). Thereafter, I need to cycle it manually, and use the finger push method for it to complete normally.

Does anyone else have a similar issue? And how do I solve it?
I just changed my DFI sensors yesterday, and cleaned the insides, so nothing is stuck or obstructing the rails. I thought my woes will be over - but now this!

Hi @regular_bicycle and welcome to our forum.

If I see correctly, there is no beige plug in the center of the globe? This means also that there is no black key behind the globe?

If this is the case, that would explain why the globe goes to the front or back and then goes off the rail.

Let us know the result.

After cleaning or replacing sensors, sometimes the globe doesn’t sit perfectly aligned in the base. Lift the globe and reseat it, then rotate it fully to check if it’s securely in place and moving freely.

Indeed! I just googled what a key and plug kit is.

The reason I don’t have it might be because I bought the litter robot used, and the previous owner didn’t install it after removing the shield.

Anyway, I’ve ordered a key and plug kit from Robotshop - will try installing it and see if it solves the problem.

Thank you!

Hi @regular_bicycle ,

Yes, new key, with plug and screw will solve this problem.

Let us know in the end.
