Hi. Thanks, as always for getting back to me so promptly. I’ve spent an interesting morning disassembling the machine and can send you the photos as requested. You’ll see that two sets are nice and shiny, whilst the third has corrosion on the sensors. I took them out and gave them a good clean before putting the box back together. I’ve switched it back on and at the moment it is working again, but for how long…
Has the way I’ve attached the photos worked? Can you open them? If not, please let me know how to send them.
Oh yes, I see now. I’m away for a while so I can’t check the base contact pins at the moment and send you a photo. In the meantime I’ve ordered some new anti-pinch pins.
Hi Ebram, I hope all is well with you. My litter-robot 3 has been working smoothly for several months, but the other day I turned off the power by mistake and since then the orange light has been flashing slowly and the globe has not been rotating.
I have looked back at advise you gave me when I had problems previously and have investigated all the pins. I recently replaced the pinch detect terminal pins and they are still in perfect condition.
The bonnet pins look fine too.
The base pins have lost their shine a little, but have no sign of rust.
I have cleaned everything and reassembled the box, making sure everything was in its correct position. The same problem is continuing. I would be grateful if you could suggest what the problem might be.
Thanks for responding so promptly. I’ve just had another go at rotating the box. It only rotates to empty one cog at a time before the yellow light starts flashing. I then need to turn the power off and on again and the process repeats. Once the globe has turned to it furthest point it stops and will not return in the opposite direction.
A few days ago the box suddenly started functioning normally for a few days. When it did, the nightlight was working properly, but at the moment it isn’t.
I hope the attached photos show you what you need to see.
I look forward to hearing from you again soon.
Best regards,
Louise.
Hi Ebram, I’ve had a very interesting half hour with my box and discovered something very strange. The box is located in my entrance hall, so I have a tall screen in front of it, which means the box is in a dark location. This has never been a problem. I moved the screen so I could take the video more easily and have more light. As soon as I did this the globe started rotating and working normally. However, when I returned the screen to its usual position, the problem I described to you earlier returned! It seems that after 4+ years my box needs more light in order to operate. I have located a lamp next to the box and so far this is solving the problem.
I looked up how to turn the nightlight on (by holding down the power button for 5 seconds). This is not working. Is there any other way to do this? Although the cats now do have a lamp next to the box!
I am attaching photos of the base contact pins, but although I took a video - which stopped after every second - I can’t get it to transfer from my phone to the laptop, so I can’t attach it right now.
As I type this my box is working and the blue light is on, which is great! Have you come across low light being a problem before? Do you recommend anything else I should do?
You can also try to take the circuit board out and clean it with isopropyl alcohol from both sides to make sure that there’s no dust limiting the light going through into the robot’s light sensor.
The light sensor is located beneath the “Power” button in a small circle so you need to clean that circle well from the inside and outside and make sure it let’s the light passes through.
After doing that and replacing the base pins, the issue should be fixed.
The base pins aren’t listed on the website so please confirm if you wish to order them so we can assist you with that.
