Litter Robot 2 - Wont Stop Turning

The globe keeps spinning to the left when I turn it on.

I tightened up the screw that the wheel attaches to in the gear box. Sometimes this became loose in the passed and it fixed the problem.

Today the globe keeps turning to the left and it wont stop when it reaches to the open latch stage where the litter clumps would fall out, instead at this part the globe continues to spin causing that deposit process to skip further into the cycle.

It continues to do this revolution into one full spin before turning into the opposite direction and initializing into its home position.

In different instances while turning the machine off and on, allowing these cycles to try and initialize, the home position would be slightly different than the previous ones, but recently the home position finally went to its regular state.

However, all the attempts in trying to get the cycle to stop turning when the latches open is futile, as well as each time it reaches its home position, all three lights keep blinking.

What happens next in this setup? I was reading other forums and some people suggested the magnets were probably whacked out or fell off from its installed position, which throws this revolution process into a constant spin.

Hope to hear from you soon! Thank you!

Hi Parplaya,

We suggest you to verify if the magnet sensor is correctly in place. To do so, please remove the drawer and you should see a black plastic holder, near the motor.
You can refer to the attached picture to verify if it’s correctly in place.

Please let us know how it goes.

Wow! I am so glad you replied quickly, and with an image to boot!

That piece is what i was wondering about since i had to detach the bottom half by unscrewing it to check for any clogging on the wires, I didnt know that specific piece belonged in that area. It must have popped out of its chamber during the detachment. Right now its just dangling, all pieces intact, in front of the gear box. Once i get home from work i will go straight to the part and install it correctly. Thank you so much and i will definitely follow up with feedback on this! This website is great!

Hi Parplaya,

Thank you for your comments!

Please keep us informed on your problem.

Cheers,

Okie dokie! Here I am reporting that it worked just like you said!

I clipped the magnet piece back in and then I turned the litter robot on while the globe was ontop and it stopped at the deposit. I am so grateful for your help! I had bought this last year because I didn’t want to see my wife continue to empty the litter box everyday, so this helped so much because I get to do the dirty work when its time to empty it out!

You guys are the best!

Hello,

I have been having the same problem. The motor was slowing down and stopping, so I replaced the motor AND the circuit board since I had a spare. I put it all together, and the globe still does not stop at the point of dumping the used litter. I checked and the magnet sensor is in place. What else could be causing this to keep turning?
Thank you,

Scott

@scotthc
The only other part that could be the cause of the issue is the sensor harness. By replacing the sensor harness, you will replace the hall effect sensor which is included in the harness.
This part is also responsible to track the position of the magnet in the globe.

I have the same problem! I came to this forum to see if it can be fixed. Took it apart and still the same thing. I think the globe is not making contact with the magnet sensor because when if i put pressure on the bottom of the opening as it rotates it will stop. But if i don’t touch it, it will continue to rotate. I’m not sure how to fix the positioning of the globe itself. As it rotates you can see the bottom of the globe is slightly lifted from the base. I contacted litter robot already but maybe you guys can help out!

Hey @chefcwis

Is it for the Litter-Robot 2 as well?

If so, you would need to replace the hall effect sensor, which you can find here:

pjutras eu acabei de substituir o chicote do sensor e o meu continua a dar a volta completa e a não parar onde devia. O que devo tentar agora?
Se tentar a função Fill ele roda no sentido correto, pára na posição certa e volta também à posição inicial.
Se tentar a função Empty ele roda para o lado errado e também não funciona.
Obrigado

Como substituí o chicote de sensor e o problema manteve se, fui agora ver como está o iman. Alguém me pode ajudar de qual é a posição correta para o sensor ler a passagem do iman?
