Linux is the OS of choice for the D.A.R.P.A. roboteers. Allows for very powerful bots. Which is probably what the bots in Nick’s fantasies will be running. Look out Arnold S. LOL
I use it in my wireless internet business primarily for its inherently stout security as well as many other reasons to numerous to list.
Operating systems are a waste of space.
What use would a robot have of an operating system, after all?
That would just make it easier for us carbon lifeforms to work with them.

I am looking seriously at using one of these Technologic TS-7400 boards in a robot. This is their newest board and it does look quite nice. It isn’t out of my price range like most Linux capable controllers either, except the Gumstix, of course.

Wow, thanks for the info. The TS-7400 looks just like something I might want. It’s basically a slightly more powerful WRT board with USB instead of ethernet ports, and smaller footprint.
