For some reason I can not get ubuntu to recognize my micro and servo controllers, I would like to use them under wine or windows virtualization but right now I cant even get it to come up. Is there anything special you have to do to get it recognized by ubuntu? I’m still new to ubuntu but I hate using windows, If anyone could help me with this that would be great.
The SSC-32 and the Bot Board II both do not have any software that will “be recognized” or “come up” on the PC’s screen, so if you’re waiting for something like that before moving on, you’ll never find it. You can use a windows emulator and Lynxterm, Sequencer, or RIOS to communicate with the SSC-32 or Basic Micro Studio to program the Bot Board.
So would I only be able to use it in Wine? or would I be able to use it in virtualization as well?
That, I have no idea about. I’m just saying that nothing is going to pop up just by plugging it into your machine.
The Bot Board / Atom Pro requires an editor to load or create a program and to download it to the chip. This software runs under windows.
The SSC-32 has several windows programs written for it.
Truth is there are no Linux versions of these programs.
You can use minicom (this is what I use) or any other Linux based terminal program to see what the SSC-32 is doing. Without a terminal program (true for any OS - Linux, Windows, etc.) you will not see any output from the SSC-32.
