Hi,
I bought 2 such “LinkSprite Spyder UART over Narrow Band Powerline Communication Modem” items from RobotShop, code Spyder-LS-PLC-UART-DC. I connected them, powered them up and plugged them into the power line. There was no sign of activity what so ever. The daughter cards I have are UART-XBee and I can see thesedaughter cards on the XBee network. However, if I plug into the outlet one of the Spyders out of the range of the XBee, hoping that I might still see through the power line communication through the second spyder still being in XBee range, no, I don’t see that remote module anymore. It’s actually not surprising as the PLC LEDs don’t show any PLC activity. I was looking for technical support at the manufacturer, LinkSprite, but the only support is on their forum page where they never provide answers and which is anyway full of scrap from advertisers. I turn now to you, being the company who sold me those to items. Where should I look for technical support?
Thanks, Liviu
Hi and thanks for the answer,
I already open on their site a technical issue case more than 7 weeks ago without any answer. Also, I made 2 messages on their forum without any reply from the manufacturer, just spam:
forum.linksprite.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=10178
forum.linksprite.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=10206
With this I have no more options left to get technical support from them, including from their forum. If you have any means to contact them, please do so, cause I run out of options. I know the manual, but it didn’t help.
Many thanks, Liviu
We are not too familiar with that product and it was likely purchased as a special order. The manual for that product is available online in case you did not see it before. The manufacturer has a support center much like we do, and they should reply faster there. Should they not reply within one or two business days, please reply here and we will contact them directly to have them answer you ASAP. You are correct that their forum is full of spam.
Hope this helps,
We have contacted Linksprite via our back channels and we expect that you will get a reply soon. We will follow up should you not get a reply in the next 1-2 business days.
Here is the reply from the manufacturer:
“According to your description, I don’t understand very clearly. I need to know your specific connections, especially that of the XBEE. It’s best to provide me with a picture or a simple sketch map so we avoid giving you the wrong guidance.
Here there is a video about how to use spyder:

They also encourage you to submit a ticket to their support forum.
