Linear actuators with high mechanical accuracy

Good day.

Do you any linear actuators with high mechanical accuracy( backlash error equal or less 0.05mm).
We have or own accurate positioning system, so we don’t need a precision feedback system, because we are going to use our own, but finding a linear actuator with such mechanical characteristics seems to be a problem.
However, it seems to me, that actuators based on threaded rod should do the trick.
So the question is do you have any precision(well, semi-precision) linear actuators?

Best regards, Stanislav.

Before looking into backlach, what force and stroke do you need? How do you plan to control it? Do you need positioning or just speed and direction?

stroke: 4-10 inches models can be considered
force: 20N is a minimum requirement.

We have our own positioning system with 0.05mm accuracy.
So that, there are 2 options:

  • to use a linear actuator with embedded positioning system if there are models with at least 0.1mm accuracy.
  • to use a linear actuator with just speed and directional control with low mechanical error and integrate our positioning system.

Best regards, Stanislav.

Examples of longer stroke, but no feedback:

They are all based on lead screws.

According to there specifications the backlash error is 0.2mm.
And that is quite big value for lead screw actuators.
