Linear Actuator Firgelli L12

Hello,
I am doing a project with classmates and we bought the Firgelli L12 Linear Actuator (stroke : 50 mm), -I model
My question is probably very stupid, but we don’t know how to make the linear actuator work.
In order to try, we connected the red output to a 12 V generator and the black output to the ground… And nothing happens.
Could someone help us?
Thank you by advance
David Heusler

What controller are you planning to use?
The -I model is great for RC input, or use with a microcontroller.

We wanted to use a printed circuit, but it’s not finished now.
But could you tell us maybe a way where we could see the actuator while working, just with inputs to the Actuator?
Thank you very much for the quickness of your last reply

Only the -S and -P versions can take a direct voltage input. The -I is more “intelligent” and needs a signal as well as power input.

Yes, and we tried also to put in the purple input 2V, the goal was that the actuator extends next to the middle of the full stroke, we also put 12 V in the red input, and bind the black to the ground.
But nothing happens.

Once again, you cannot simply plug in wires and hope it works - you may end up frying the actuator.
The -I ideally needs an RC input, or a current input to the green wire.
