Line tracking robot

Hi I recently purchased 9 Elenco line tracking robot kits and put them together…

5 of them follow the electrical tape line going in both directions.

2 of them will only follow a line going counter clockwise
1 of the will only follow the line going clockwise
1 does not follow any line at all

please advise as I have trouble shooted everything listed in the kit.
Please advise
as I am using these for an art installation and need them to all follow the line and go in the same direction
