Hi there,
I have a botley robot. The code mode seems to work ok. However switching to LINE mode and placing on the included track does not… Which is the feature my autistic son seems most interested in.
Selecting line mode and pressing the button on top makes botley beep the 4 lights flash one at a time then botley says “hi” then absolutely nothing happens, not even any movement. It doesn’t matter if he is placed over a line or not lining up the black chips on the bottom with the line on the card boards makes no difference either. Our floor is amtico hard boards with the included line mode puzzle boards.
I’m very competent with small electronics etc and wondering if the sensor is just not plugged in, or if a sensor is faulty. What’s robots shop support process for botley not working properly?
I have just watched this video. Looks like you’re doing everything to make the robot following the line. You’re changing the mode with slide switch, pressing the button on top and keeping it on track. Have you checked the battery charge? Insufficient battery charge sometimes cause inappropriate behaviour of such robot kits. Anyway, let’s see what Robotshop team suggests. By the way, if you consider making a line follower waiter robot together with your kid, here is an easy one.
Hey there, thanks for your reply. yes i followed the instructions and found that video. The batteries were brand new out of packet, and the code function all works normally, drives around our surfaces no issues.
Thanks for the project link. Yes I have loads of things like that in mind, but waiting for my son to be a bit older before going down that path. I already make all my own Radio controlled aircraft and carbon fibre self build racing drones, so engineering items and making things is already a passion of mine. My son talks about big grand building projects of mass engineering… have to bring him down a few pegs all the time and let him know that when he is capable of soldering etc that I will be fully on board.
Hopefully RobotShop will have some suggestions soon. I’m seriously hoping it just a plug inside that should have failed QA or something. Tempted to open and look… but don’t want that to cause issue getting replacement or anything.
it was bought as a gift, and gifted to my son at Christmas time. So i dont know the order ID. Is Robot Shop the manufactrurer? I might be best going direct?
