Li-ion Battery Charge on Rover

I just bought a rover v2.0 (bluetooth) and am having trouble with the supplied lithium battery (2000mAh, 3.7V). I’ve had it plugged into my PC via USB for about 12 hours, but the battery doesn’t seem to be taking/holding a charge. I can only connect the bluetooth some of the time and the motors have never turned.

I’ve also connected the AA battery pack to test, and it worked perfectly. I remove the jumper when the AA pack is connected and replace the jumper when the Li-ion battery is charging and attempting to run (which I believe is the right way to do it).

Is there a way to check if the battery is in fact charging? Should I be using a different source other than my PC to charge? If it isn’t charging is there a way to test if it’s the charger or the battery that is causing the problem? Do I just need to wait longer?

Will the LED for the charging circuit turn off when the battery is fully charged or does it stay on as long as there is power to the circuit?

You should not need to wait more than a few hours for the battery to be charged. A desktop computer should be able to charge the battery without issues, although for sure a more powerful power supply could charge it faster.

If you have never been able to power the rover with the battery, then it is possible that your charger is defective. Please contact us visa the Support Centre so we can offer you an RMA for the circuit board.
