Why aren’t these offered as kits? They seem structurally sound. Probably would shave off a few ounces I imagine…
The tibia was pretty stout, but the femur and the feet were a bit flexible. The 0.125" thick lexan parts weighs about the same as 0.06" aluminum parts so the weight never changed on the bot.
Lexan is a great companion to the aluminum brackets, such as electronic carriers, doors, or any other non-SES components. Aluminum and robots just go together anyway. 8)
Well, I thought the lexan route would shave off a few ounces but looking at the hexapod’s aluminum vs. lexan weight, it really depends on how much of each material you would need for where it is applied.
Are these lexan pieces paintable? I’ve painted clear lexans (r/c car bodies), but I’ve yet to try to paint a solid colored-lexans.
