Length of Nylon Ball Link Socket

What is the length of the BLS-02 nylon ball socket? End-to-end or preferable socket midpoint to long end? Can some of the long end be trimmed and still allow enough for a reliable connection to the rod?

I am trying to determine the minimum distance that I can connect two ball links using this part. I need to connect two pivot points ~1.635" apart.

The shortest segment length would be 1.08" without trimming any of the plastic from the parts.
