Leddarone Optical rangefinder (RS485)

G’day:
I am looking to buy the Leddarone optical rangefinder RB-Led-02 with the RS-485 interface. However, I have some questions first: I presume this i/face is half duplex in accord with Modbus protocol and that I use only the A-B wires from my 4-wire (A,B,Y,Z) full duplex RS-485 line. That implies I can set a unique address for the rangefinder? I am not sure what the “IRQ” terminal on the rangefinder is for? I presume the logic of the RS-485 is 5V? It would be helpful to access a user manual of some sort before purchase in order to decide whether to use the 3.3 UART model RB-Led-04 (which would be full duplex?) or the RS-485 version. Can you provide this?
Carl

Hi Carl,

We have contacted the manufacturer to obtain the information you requested. We will post here again once we have received a response.

Sincerely,

Thank you for your response. The RS485 is potentially very useful as I already have it on my only available serial line which already serves my Pontech servo controller. Thus it saves me adding another microcontroller plus another MAX 488 IC, as I would have to, for example, for an I2C interface. I’ll wait for info. Carl

Hi Carl,

We have obtained the manual and it is now available on the product page under Useful Links. Here is a direct link to it.

You should be able to find your answers there. If you have further questions, we recommend that you contact the manufacturer directly. They are quick to respond and can be reached here.

Sincerely,
