LED Dimmer with servo potentiometer

Had to make a very simple LED dimmer for someone. so this is the first test to see how well a servo pot worked.
Thought i might share…
Solder one end of the resistor to the red wire on the 9-volt battery clip. Solder the other side of the resistor to one of the ends of the potentiometer, then solder the short end of the LED to the black wire of the 9-volt battery clip.
Solder the free end of the LED to the free end of the potentiometer, completing the circuit.

To one extreme of the potentiometer the LED will be at maximum brightness, and to the other extreme, the LED will be maximally dimmed, or may be off entirely.

What pot?

Linear taper? 20 mA is a lot of current for a pot.

Better to use PWM (full, not R/C).

just connected to the pot in the Hs475hb servo. works like a charm. although im not prepared to rotate the full 180º as its as bright at 90º as it was before i attached it to the pot.

Put a resistor in series with the pot. Then at full brightness it will not draw too much current.

The pot is 5k and linear taper…

20mA is not a lot for a pot. Pots are generally rated for multiple watts. 2 watts, or 5 watts…
