I’ve ordered the LIDAR Lite v3 and the Arduino Starter Kit. Can you recommend an LCD for viewing the live distance readings?
I understand that I’ll be able to view them in the serial monitor, and intend to save them to a text file along with timestamps, but I’d also like to be able to read them directly from an LCD. As a newcomer to this technology, I’m unable to decide between the available models. For example, I don’t know if I am looking for an Arduino LCD shield or for something that plugs into a breadboard.
The Lidar Lite V3 is a single axis distance sensor, so not sure what you’d like to display on the LCD? An LCD shield is nice, but be careful that you still have access to all pins.
The first question is still - what would you like to display?
I wrote “an LCD for viewing the live distance readings”. I’m afraid I don’t know how I could be more clear. Except perhaps to specify that I refer to the distance readings from the LIDAR Lite. That is, the readings that are being sent to the serial monitor.
I realize it can be frustrating answering questions from beginners. We who don’t know what questions to ask or how they should be worded. I wrote, for example, that I was a newcomer to this technology. It would have been more precise to say that I knew nothing of electronics.
I also wrote that I had ordered a LIDAR Lite v3 and the Arduino Starter Kit. But I did not specify that I intended to control the LIDAR Lite with the Arduino, specifically with either the PulsedLight3D LIDARLite v2 Arduino Library or the Garmin LIDARLite v3 Arduino Library.
Since I don’t know how to ask the right question, I’ll provide examples of what I’d like to do. First, LIDAR Lite live distance readings to LCD.
Can you recommend an LCD for viewing the live distance readings from the LIDAR Lite, as controlled by an Arduino Uno? One that would be operating at the same time the same readings were being acquired by the serial monitor?
My order (nr 480284) for the LIDAR Lite and the Arduino Starter Kit is currently being held, pending the forum’s recommendation of an LCD. If no such recommendation is forthcoming, could you please specify that, so I can go ahead with my order?
