Laser sensor in a old printer

hi everyone i recently bought a used printer for about 3 dollars

it is still functioning and working very good

i didnt buy it to print paper but to use the motors rails sensors etc

i found a very good and weird sensor idk how it  is working or how to disassemble it

the printer is one stepper motor to get the paper down and one brushed motor for the x axis (the ink left and right)

the ink box has a bult in sensor which emmits red light on a transparent plastic thing and gets reads from it about the coordinates of the ink box

i want to use the whole thing but with my arduino but idk how to get reading from that sensor

the printer is lexmark z640

thx in advance

Heloo my friend Which

Heloo my friend Which printer or scaner is good and useful for disassembling to use its motor or rails?
