Newbie here so go easy on me. I figured the servos thread was my best bet for this question…
I have a 2006 KLR650 enduro motorcycle that I am making into a post-apocalyptic type bike…think “Mad Max Commutes To Work.†It’s the same bike the Marines use in Afghanistan. I’m in the process of mounting twin barrels on the front with flash suppressors and a center brace, with a snake coiled around it that I created using my forge and anvil. On the right hand side, using the existing passenger foot peg bolts, I plan to mount futuristic laser cannon using cool looking parts salvaged from jets (I work on NAS Jax). It will be made out of 3†OD aluminum, 4-feet long, and will probably weigh about 2-3 pounds. Here is my question for you all:
- I want the laser cannon to be able to pivot, with the pivot point about 8 inches from the back end, with the front end of the barrel to go up and down in a linear motion. I want to power it using my motorcycle’s existing DC electric, and use a switch near the handle bars. How would I go about doing this and are robotics/servos even the right direction? In other words, is there a simple DC electric arm with limit switches that I could use?
Thanks,
Phil
