Large but not necessarily massive 1/4 scale servo hexapod

Well it’s big… About 26 inches across! Should have it walking tomorrow. The chassis is pretty rigid, but there is room for improvement. It can hold itself up under power which is a good sign.

That’s not big enough :open_mouth:

I concur!!

Anything less then 36" across does not qualify for massive!.. Maybe large, but not MASSIVE, no sir!

:stuck_out_tongue:

</smart***>

That’s beautiful Jim, which servo did you elect to use? Are you using the 805BB? At 300+ oz-in of torque and with a price at a little over the 645MGs, I think it’s one of the most bang-for-your-buck servo…

No, it has to be the 5745.

How many times has Jim said the 805s don’t fit SES?

Thanks Sienna, I must’ve missed that conversation (or not paid attention)

Gulp!.. :open_mouth:

This is using the 755 analog servo. I wanted to know the minimum servo power required to make it walk. Stay tuned, video at 11:00.

Here are some youtube videos of the big guy in motion.

Enjoy…

I was being sarcastic. It’s huge! can barely see the bot board on it!

So, you mean there is room to grow to a Massive bot!

Thats really cool then

(hehe… I like the title Jim :stuck_out_tongue:)

Great Jim!
I bet Phoenix looks VERY small beside this monster!

nice work. i had always wanted to build a bigger scale hex like that. i do have plans to build a Tiny one though but just waiting for the new line of mini SES parts jim!. would look cool sitting next to that beast!!!

i agree with comments about the chassis! would be cool to see a new cut design for this.

great work jim - oh and all the guys @ LM.

i feel a “massive” Johnny5 would be cool?

You know… if we keep getting all these different size hexapods… we will be able to create a hexapod version of the spiders in Space Odessy! (or was it Mana… I can never remember anymore, its been ages)

i like the jaunty swagger when it walks - looks kinda “hey chicks, what’s happnin’…”

Jim - is there a reason why you don’t put a tube between the hip C-hinge and the knee C-hinge instead of connecting them together? That would make it even bigger!

Don’t think it would have the strength to walk with the femur lengthened like that. :frowning: I’d have to upgrade to 5745 servos. Pricey…

I realized the other day that I forgot to post the video of the beast walking with the new chassis panels. Just a prototype for now…

It walks very well. It was hard to tell the size of it without another normal sized hex standing next to it.

greater harder stronger.

build a hexapod whith pneumatics for sit on it
