LAC recognised but actuator does not move

Hello,

I have recently (received yesterday) purchased a P16-200-22-12-P actuator and Actuonix LAC and have been trying to use my computer to control the actuator both through the USB interface software and LabVIEW. After some initial difficulties in getting my computer to recognise the LAC it now does, however I sometimes have to uninstall the software and reinstall to get it to work.

Also changing of the potentiometers on the LAC does not seem to do anything with the actuator; this is the same with both the USB interface software and LabVIEW. With LabVIEW a signal seems to be being sent as the actuator attempts to move (judders) when changing an input but then doesn’t move.

Any advice what might be the problem? The actuator seems to work OK as when I apply a voltage to the power terminals it moves in and out OK (and speed changes if using a different voltage) so it would suggest the problem is with LAC.

Many thanks

Bob

Remove power in case there’s something wrong. Can you provide a few clear photos showing all of the connections (when you reply, there is an “attachments” section below the reply window which is normally closed).
There are quite a few settings on the LAC which need to be correctly put in place before the actuator can move, so be sure to read through the manual carefully:

We await your reply and images.

Hi,

thank you for getting back to me so quickly

As suggested I have attached two photos showing the LAC and how it has been wired up and also the wire connections to the Actuator. I have kept the same wiring colours as the actuator so that it make wiring up the LAC easier.

I can confirm that I have set up the LAC as recommended in the manual, and currently I have kept all the potentiometers set to full-CW. I am using a small 12v battery power supply.

Kind regards

Bob

You indicated you have a P16 actuator from Firgelli. Take a look at page 2 under X2:

Hi,

thank you for your advice, using X2 rather than X4 seems to have got everything working OK

I would like to point out that both the LAC configuration manual and data sheet do not indicate that the P16 Actuator can be used with X2; may I suggest these are updated or mention made on the website that this terminal can be used. On page two of the LAC configuration manual it says Other-P should use X4 which is what I did.

Thank you for your assistance.

Kind regards

Bob

Thanks for pointing out the omission in our LAC datasheet. I have corrected it so it now reads “L12-P/L16-P/P16-P/T16-P” to cover all of our models that can be connected directly via terminal X2.
The updated datasheet is now uploaded to our “Product Datasheets and 3D Files” section for future use.
