Ok. I am very happy to say, I have finally finished the assembly of the “New” L6 purchased on ebay. Thanks to Jim and everyone at Lmotion, it seems to be in working order. However, I would like to ask a few questions to those that have been dealing with these kind of robots.
When moving the arm to a position, when it arrives he likes to make a constant humming sound. Some of the Humm goes away if I lift up slightly with my finger on the arm. Will this humming go away if the balancing springs are installed? Or would it be better to have stronger servos in the elbow and shoulder joints?
When closing the gripper onto something ( say a finger) as it applies more force, it tends to make a clicking sound ( servo HS85bb). Is this normal? I assume it is, but would like to know for sure.
When powering down the robot, it falls right down to the ground. Is this normal?
For those that have experience with both L6 and SES, Is the SES a much better choice? If so, would I be able to upgrade without buying all new servos?
Servos doing work make noise. There is nothing that can be done about this.
It’s normal for a gripper servo that has been commanded to close down on an object until the gears have broken. The L5 and L6 grippers are designed to hold light weight objects. The microservo used to open and close the gripper can be easily damaged if you are not very careful.
Very normal.
The SES arms are structurally superior. They have the same weight lifting capacity as the material is roughly the same weight. You can reuse any of the servos from the L6 that are appropriate for use in the SES equivalent. HTH
