L42-10-5300-R

We have had a back order on the Dynamixel L42-10-S300-R on our PO-V3609 since 8-23. I notice that this item is being discontinued in November on many of th sites that carry it. My first question is: Is the manufacturer no longer making this item and is it indeed being discontinued? 2. Is there a drop in replacement for this servo motor? If so, what are the part numbers for the replacement part? 3. Is M42-10-S260-R considered an alternative? If so, will it be readily available and not discontinued? What would the software differences be between the L42-10-S300-R and the M42-10-S260-R? We need some immediate feedback on this as we are on hold due to the availability of the L42-10-S300-R. Thank you.

Hi,

Here is our reply as we replied on our Support Center :

  1. All the the Dynamixel Pro Servos have normally 6-8 weeks of lead time as the L42-10-S300-R (RB-Rbs-174).
However, it happens that we have two Dynamixel Pros in stock:
    L54-30-S400-R Dynamixel Pro Smart Servo Motor : robotshop.com/en/l54-30-s400 … motor.html (currently 1 in stock)
    L54-50-S500-R Dynamixel Pro Smart Servo Motor : robotshop.com/en/l54-50-s500 … motor.html (currently 2 in stock)
To know the difference between Dynamixel Pro Servos, we invite you to take a look at the attached comparison table.

  2. You are correct. We can see on Robotis website that the Dynamixel Pro L-Series will be discontinued on Nov. 1st, 2017 and orders should be placed by Oct. 31st, 2017.
Currently, we don’t have the information about the reason of the discontinuation. We will contact Robotis and ask them about this.
We will provide you the answer as soon as we get a reply.

  3. The M42-10-S260-R is also out of stock and it will take approximately 6 weeks to receive it.
Both servos (L42-10-S300-R and M42-10-S260-R) supports RS-485 communication protocol.
For the difference between the two, please take a look at the attached comparison table.
In the attached " Dynamixel Pro Servos Drawing.rar" file, you will find the Mechanical Drawings of these servos :
    L42-10-S300-R
    L54-30-S400-R
    L54-50-S500-R
    M42-10-S260-R
So basically, to choose the correct replacement servo, you will need to look into the comparison table for the performances of each servo (continuous torque, speed, backlash…) and the mechanical drawings for the form factor.
Please note thataAll DYNAMIXEL Pro servos are rated at 24 V, use the RS-485 communication protocol, and are designed for an operating temperature from 5-55 C (41-131 F).

  4. As we mentioned above, we do stock L54-30-S400-R and L54-50-S500-R servos.
Please let us know how do you want to proceed. We will let you know of the reason of the discontinuation of the Dynamixel Pros L series as soon as we get a reply from Robotis.
