Hi
Pinout is the same for sn754410 and l293 but I used schematics attached and it works OK using l293 and l293d but it does not work using 754410.
The control source for my experiment is a servo logic card and its chip is ba6688l.
I have read today that sn754410 needs pull down resistors. I am going to test it today.
Any help will be apreciate

I am using a pcb from l293 secret. Sn754419 does not work as l293 replacement in that pcd. I tested on a protoboard and it works only when I connect to ground pins 5 or 6, so I think it needs a pull down resistors.
Any Idea ??

I have just tested and pull down resistors are needed. Now works OK, using the pcb.
Schematics attached.
It is a png file

Looking over the specifications, these two chips offer similar functionality and pinouts. They appear to be drop in replacements for each other:
l293d Quadruple Half-H Driver
sn754410 Quadruple Half-H Driver
We recommend you analyze the recommended application circuits to determine any differences in implementation.

I can see why pins 4 and 5 should be grounded but not pin 6.
According to page 6/8 of the sn754410 specifications, pins 4, 5, 12 and 13 should be tied to ground. No resistor is specifically suggested.
Comparing with page 7/14 of the L293D specifications, the differences are barely perceivable if any.
