Konda 3-HV

I have outgrown the Robotis Bioloid Advanced kit (Humanoid type A) using the RoboPlus program. I’m thinking of moving to the Kondo 3-HV once I sell the Bioloid. I have a few questions.

  1. How does the Heart to Heart version 4 compare to the RoboPlus software? I am not ready to learn C+ or another language to do the more complicated programing.
  2. Am I better getting the extra 5 servos to get to 22 DOF to start, or build the standard 17 DOF and then upgrade?
  3. I gather there are English manuals for the assemby and software, but non available to see until you buy the Kondo. I did find a few PDF example pages, but the sofware menus and icons were still in Japanese. Is there a complete English version provided with the Kondo?
  4. I know the remote is extra. If I run the Kondo from a PC to start, is there a simulated remote on the PC screen so my grandchildren can use the PC like a remote?
  5. Any other suggestions on the next step kit from the Bioloid Advanced. I like the taller Kondo, the metal construction and the servo speed/strength to do acrobatics.
  6. Is there a list anywhere of the pre-programmed motion?

Thanks for your help.

Thank you for the response. Would the Kumotek KT-X Gladiator using Robovie Maker 2 be a better next step?

Thanks again but unfortunately the Hanson is way out of my price range. By “learning programming” you mean C or similar rather than creating motions by moving the robot parts and writting task files (simple basic) like I do with RoboPlus software. The GUI interface for the Kondo and Kumotek does not look that hard, as long as it is not writting code. Appeciate your help.

Hi rkartzinel,

Welcome to the RobotShop Forum.

  1. You can take a look at the Heart to Heart 3 Software here.
  2. The choice is yours really - the servos can be purchased at any time. If you are not quite ready to learn programming, the extra degrees of freedom may be irrelevant.
  3. See answer #1 above. The software which comes with the Kondo is loosely translated to English.
  4. No - there is no wireless connection.
  5. If you want to take full advantage of the Kondo, you would need to learn how to program
  6. There are some examples with the software, but the Kondo is more of a programming platform. You won’t find the same easy to use interface on the Kondo as you did on the Bioloid.

Hope this helps,

Hi,

It all depends on what you plan to do with the humanoid. If you want one that can move a bit better and is lighter weight, then The Kondo and Kumotek humanoids are more purpose built, whereas the Robotis products are based on modular construction blocks and motors. If you would like to gain more experience in robotics, you will undoubtedly need to learn programming. If you want something that is highly interactive and can impress others, you might consider the Hanson Robokind. This is on-par with the Nao, but is available to the general public.
