Knowledge needed

I have a metal 6"2 Terminator from the movie, T-800, you know the one you could buy that has red eyes that light up once plugged in.
I was wondering where I could get parts to make this robot walk and move.
I am new to robotics but bought this to make one of these terminators walk, move it’s arms, and camera the eyes. Are parts available so I can do this?
Thanks.

Hi Bill,

Welcome to the RobotShop Forum. Most humanoid (walking) robots use hobby servos for articulation. To control these you would need a servo controllerwith enough degrees of freedom (usually 3 to 5 per leg, 3 or more per arm, perhaps one for the head and another for the torso). 6" is not a lot of space for standard servos, and suggest articulating the arms, torso and head first before trying to make it walk. One easy way to make it “walk” would be to use servos in the legs to mimic the motion, but not actually support the robot; when the movie T2 was made, the terminators were actually supported from behind and the legs only followed the movements. Having the robot support itself might mean using larger servos, which modfy the look. There is a very similar post by EndoT800 about articulating a Terminator 2 robot.

Hope this helps,
